About the course
The course was created within the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project «EU TRUST AI» at NUFT. It is for people who teach, supervise student work, write papers and grant applications, and want to use AI with confidence rather than by trial and error.
Most of the time is practice on your own materials: syllabi, student assignments, texts and data. We work only with free tools or free plans.
What the course covers
12 topics in six parts, combined into 10 sessions. In the last session you present your own action plan.
Part 1
The European framework and competence
-
Topic 1. Teaching for AI, with AI and about AI: the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027
How the European framework sees the role of AI in education and what follows for your department.
-
Topic 2. Digital competence of educators: DigCompEdu
Self-assessment against the framework and a plan to develop your own skills.
Part 2
AI tools in practice
-
Topic 3. Types of AI models for educators: choosing and using them effectively
How to choose a tool for the task: literature search and mapping, analysis, writing, teaching.
-
Topic 4. Practical integration: prompt engineering and productivity
A prompt protocol, checking references and reproducibility of work done with AI.
Part 3
Ethics, safety, law
-
Topic 5. From the EC ethical guidelines for educators to practice: GDPR and privacy
Which data can and cannot be shared with AI services, and how to declare the use of AI.
-
Topic 6. Transparency and trust: an AI statement in the syllabus
How to write a clear AI policy for your course, taking into account the AI Act transparency requirements.
Part 4
Assessment and pedagogy
-
Topic 7. Banning is not the answer: updating assessment strategies
Why AI detectors do not give reliable proof and how to redesign tasks so they test thinking.
-
Topic 8. Teaching methods with AI in line with DigCompEdu
AI as a tutor and assistant: Socratic dialogue, rubrics, feedback.
Part 5
Inclusion and personalisation
-
Topic 9. AI for inclusion and personalised learning: Article 21 of the Charter
Universal design for learning and personalisation without discrimination.
-
Topic 10. Supporting diverse learners: EU accessibility standards
WCAG and EN 301 549 in practice: how to make materials accessible.
Part 6
Efficiency and administration
-
Topic 11. Effective strategies: AI to support teachers
Preparing materials, reports and grant applications, always checked by a human.
-
Topic 12. AI for everyday admin tasks in line with GDPR
Correspondence, minutes, schedules: where AI saves time and where it puts data at risk.
After the course you will be able to
- Choose AI tools for literature search, analysis and teaching, and know their limits
- Write reproducible prompts and document AI use for papers and reports
- Decide which data can and cannot be shared with AI services
- Write an AI use statement for your syllabus
- Redesign tasks and assessment so that AI does not replace learning
- Make learning materials accessible to diverse learners
- Declare the use of AI in publications and grant applications
Why it matters for teachers and researchers
Students already use AI. The question is whether we teach them to do it honestly and safely.
Publisher and funder requirements
Journals and grant programmes increasingly require authors to declare AI use. You will know what to declare and how.
Assessment needs updating
AI detectors do not give reliable proof. The course shows how to change tasks instead of fighting the tools.
Time saved without risk
AI takes routine work off correspondence, reports and materials, as long as you know where the line is for personal data.
A result for your course
You leave with a portfolio and an action plan for your course or research. The course can be recognised as non-formal education under the NUFT regulation.
How the course works
-
Registration
Submit an application. Groups are up to 10 people, so places are limited.
-
Entry test
12 questions and a confidence scale to tailor the sessions to the group.
-
10 sessions
Short theory and a workshop on your own materials.
-
Portfolio
After the sessions, portfolio items: a prompt protocol, an AI use declaration, an updated assignment.
-
Action plan and certificate
In the final session you present your plan for introducing AI and receive an Erasmus+ participation certificate.
What you will have at hand
Trainers
15 trainers following the course sessions: the AI Act, privacy, detectors, accessibility, integrity.
